Hey Everyone.

Just thought I would post a new saw for us to make. Was fun to make...Our version of the Disston #8 half-back. 10 ppi cross cut.

Is that "us" as in you lot, or "us" as in us lot. If the latter it might be a bit beyond "us"

Fabulous as always =D> =D>

Cheers

Paul

Ha, thanks for the kind words!

Here's the close-up of the present one.

But it was thrown together by the company doing the laser engraving simply to show the process would work, without taking the time to make my art work for the laser.

Here's what they will be like:

Chris Schwarz mentioned concerning the 3 half-backs I made using the Kenyon handles as a starting point that after enough years they could cause a bit of fun trying to determine who made them...Fun to think about, but I won't be around by then...

Take care, Mike

What, no "Est. 2005"? (or 2004, 2003, it's a guess.)

C'mon, in 50 years it'll add to the heirloom quality.

Right now, it'll shout proud not to be associated with the late C20 pretty much remorseless process of tool quality decline.

look mike this is getting to be pornographic.

i can guarantee that anyone interested in tools is now
trying to figure how to stop their wallet and credit cards
just floating across the atlantic and dropping into
your accounts.

stunning, and i agree a date would be fun for those who come
later

i still think you should give it a bear print too though

how's he going to feel that after stealing his pizza, you have not
given him a credit

beautiful as usual

paul

Mike

all I can say is :tongue9: :tongue9: =D> and as Paull said i am try not think about how to get one

I am not sure who is winning at the moment ( the devil or the angel ) :D

Mike... Lovely saw... but please date the medal... you will save our descendents a lot of hassle.

As regards the calendar... YES... my poodle has just volunteered to pose nude for the pics... just send me the saws and I will let you have the pics by return!

Now Gerard, how could I refuse such a tremendous offer!

Many thanks to you and the rest for the very kind words.

Hey Paul, I'll leave that for the etch. Which may be happening. It's an on again, off again thing...But the problems may be resolved. We'll see.

I'll tell you what regarding a calendar. I can do the layout and be responsible for getting them printed. Y'all talk to Ian, Karl, Philly, Alice, Mr. S and as many others to submit art or photographs and I'll do a calendar.

If there's enough interest and enough people, the cost might be reasonable. Maybe a sponsor or two [Rob? Mike H? Terry?]? A UK Workshop Calendar. Perhaps the excess printing Charlie could offer on the site for those not interested at first?

Well, again, many thanks. Mike

So just how many intermediate pre-proper-medallion but post non-medallion, non-dated-medallion, incorrect artwork medallion saws will there be? :p :p
THESE are the ones that will be worth the big bucks!
Regards
Martin

Sheesh, it's off and on more times than a soap opera wedding, Mike. S'funny though, I'd wondered about a bear too - are you aware "I sorta collect" (Todd Hughes TM) tools with animal maker's marks? Heck, maybe I'll just hand over my bank account and quit trying to resist...

Cheers, Alf

Hi Martin--

Hmm, I don't think I've had enough coffee yet this morning...let me think...There will be only one saw which has the improper medallion--the one in the photo. It was only put on that saw for a short duration purpose. It's a sample saw. If the saw ever ends back here, it will have the medallion replaced.

Hey Alf, yeah, pure drama it is. Supposedly the issues have been resolved, resists have been created for us, chemical changes/additions to the acid, etc. Stuff should arrive today or tomorrow. So this weekend we'll see. I'm not going to hold my breath. My feeling is they simply are trying to avoid giving my money back...I hope I am surprised it works.

Take care, Mike

well mike you could always get the saws sent to me,
and i will get the guys who etch my model railway kits to do it

now how much would that cost :? :?

paul

Here's the first medallion, hot off the press, so to speak.

This will be the one used on the next few hundred saws.

And the etch? Here's a look at the art for the two etches. Tomorrow a sample on steel. Well, if I actually get to it
