I had the cheapo SIP version for a number of years.

Once I got it fettled it was actually quite good for shorter lengths of timber. They only have 2 knives so you have to feed quite slowly to get a good finish.

The fence mechanism on the SIP was junk and I threw it away but the Axi one looks much more robust.

Good luck,

Hi Erik,

I have this model and have been really pleased with it. The machine is really well built and feels a lot more solid than other makes of a similar size. The fence is excellent, a lot better than other versions as Peter has said. The size of it is obviously a limitation as to the length of timber that can be machined accurately without making extended feed tables, but then that is the nature of the beast!

thanks for the replies guys, youve been a great help
i think that me and my wallet might be off to axi again on saturday
regards
erik
