Hi folks... I need to do a lot of quick dovetails in 25mm thickness pine.

I hear the Leigh R9 system can cope, and is quick and easy to use.
Can anyone recommend the jig/template?

Many Thanks in anticipation. :)

It is quick and easy to use but an absolute swine to set up. Like much American equipment it is made to do everything and as a result is over engineered except in the case of the R9 you have to build it yourself. The drawing of the complete jig is poor. The conversion from Imperial to Metric is simply wrong in many cases although the latest versions of the instructions may have been updated.
I bought it because I wanted to cut the joints on a table router, it will do both. Then I had a problem in that the router was slightly off-centre in my brand new table insert and could not use the guide bushes. I bought the accessory kit as well and am now trying to sell the lot. It was offered here for sale at 2/3rds of new but was completely underwhelmed by the response.

Thanks for the response FH.

In view of what you say, (and because I have discovered, the jig can't cope with thicknesses greater than 3/4"), I think I will cut the joints by hand. It's just the time it will take; but then I haven't got much else to do. Unless you include the housework, the shopping, the cooking, and the gardening. (Oh yes, and putting out the bins!) Thanks anyhow and I hope you find a buyer for your R9 eventually.

Regards :)
