Where can I buy HSS plate in small pieces?
If I ask for plain spindle moulder blanks I get funny looks, lectures on safety and have to pay premium prices for branded objects.

Thanks for replies.

could you not use one of these

or ground flat stock if your willing to harden it
Too small and have holes in which weakens them and limits the shape you can grind

Hi

This may be what you are looking for:

Tool bits as a whole seem to be too narrow. I want 2"x3" minimum. Didn't know they were called tool bits though.

Hi Jacob,
I usually cut up an old planer knife, I have a slitting wheel in the bench grinder for this purpose and just slice off the amount i need.

Will you be using a jig for that?
No completely freehand. The secret is to keep offering it up to the original moulding whilst holding at as close as you can get to the actual cutting angle, and grinding accordingly.

I've got a 50mm x 50mm x4mm old new blank doing nowt. Pm your address if you want it and I'll stick it in the post ;)
