The switch on my Hegner multicut has just packed in, fortunately being a scrimper I was able to visit my box of spare switches and find an exact match which I have fitted and is working fine.

However looking on the Hegner website I find the very same switch with an asking price of £24! http://www.hegner.co.uk/Motor-Switch-Va ... d-Machines

How in gods name do they justify this price?

This is a simple plastic 2 terminal on/off rocker switch as sold by places such as Rapid or CPC for under £1.00. (The one I used was as used in a hairdryer and from my old stock)

If your switch packs in please consider looking around before paying £24 for one. IMHO that is just extortion and greedy!

The robbing bstrds !! Perhaps it included free postage

Firstly I would say that I have never seen a Hegner saw in the flesh let alone use one, and for the price that they are it is unlikely to happen.
I accept that many members of the forum have one and consider them to be the only saws worth using and I would not dispute that but I think that Hegner's main market is to government and local council departments who as we all know have no idea of the value of money.
Maybe the saw is worth the premium price it commands but how can they justify about £150 for a simple metal stand.

Thank goodness it was not the speed control, they charge £155.75 for that, all it comprises is a plastic housing enclosing a potentiometer with knob a simple printed circuit and the over priced switch! Where do they get these prices from? I suppose they have got customers over a barrel with some of the parts though as you can't buy any alternative.

I understand that they make good saws but the price of parts and machines are now way too expensive, what they need is some decent competition from a company who could make a quality scroll-saw rather than market cheap far-east made re-badges.
