I posted here a while back about some sycamore I have which has colour imperfection, if I remember right someone told me it was most likely something to do with sugars and the kiln treating process.

If I use an AB hydrogen peroxide bleach will this bring the wood down to a consistent colour?

I haven't used peroxide bleach before but thought if it doesn't work maybe I could stain it or maybe go for a black shellac finish.

Thanks

Your informant is probably correct about the cause of the stain.

A/B bleach will bring all the wood to pretty much the same colour, but it won't be white. The end result of bleaching will be something that is within the yellow area of the spectrum, and this may take a couple of goes. You'll probably want to adjust the colour after that, e.g., dye, stain, or change the colour through chemical reaction, e.g., use ferrous sulphate to create harewood. Slainte.
