Help to Newbie

I have tight night. I work till 3 o` clock. I made a dinosaurs for my children and i am starting to be addicted from scroll saw :lol:

Anyway:
1.
For now I am practice on plywood since it is cheap 13 eur 150 x 150 cm thickness 1,2 cm
There plywood made from poplar wood but a little expensive is plywood made from beech wood or cherry wood.
Is there anyone who cuts from plywood an can help me is it good to change different plywood. If i want to buy it cheap i have to buy 1 plate 250 x 150 cm which is a lot of wood but i do not want it to trow it away and it cost cca 25 eur
(sorry i do not know how many pound it is)
I know a lot of you work with regular wood but is there any chance of product made from plywood ? Or just for puzzles?

2. Now i am cutting puzzles and i find that for outlines no. 5 is perfect for cutting inside of puzzles now I am using no. 1 receive it with Hegner machine. Do you think i shout go on smaller blades for puzzle cut? Which blades do you use for plywood and which for hardwood? I love when the space between puzzles is small. Now i know i have to wear mask to scroll

3. In my land there is only Proxxon blades with 3 different blade assortment no. 5 , no. 5 super cut and spiral blades
Prices for them here is doubled or triple than in Germany proxxon super cut no 5 is 6 eur - 6 blades. Now i receive price for PEBECO and NIQUA blades half of prics 12 pcs 3 eur and shipping to me is 10 eur.
I general they are fine blades but so PEBECO have small assortment and it is a little expensive than Niqua but Niqua have big assortment and I really do not know which to buy. For now I am cutting Plywood but I am thinking to go on hard wood thickness 1,2 cm or more (depend of my skills and learning).
This is my last cost of which I can afford in this month.

4. Circle drive me crazy. I can cut circle in good shape but it is not clean cut and i have to sand a lot. I do not know where to put finger down that i can turn with the other hand.



I find in this forum a German firm who sell blades and ship it for low price (10 eur)

Hi Blaz. many of us here in the UK use plywood for many of the things we make but we also use hardwoods as well. There are many types of plywood but most of us here use Baltic birch plywood beacuse it has a very good surface veneer and it is easy to paint with acrylic paints. Birch ply wood has no voids between the layers but other plywood has and when you cut something with other types of plywood it is often disappointing when you discover a void, it does not look very nice. A number 5 blade is perfect for cutting plywood although if you have very small inside cuts then a number 3 blade may be better.

Ok but can anyone tell me which product are loking nice from plywood. Or you use plywood just for puzzle?

Hi Blaz. There are many things you can make from plywood. Christmas tree decorations are a firm favourite with many people. Others make small boxes and some even make clocks from it. A lot of things made from plywood need painting and birch faced plywood is very good for this as you can get a silky smooth finish on it going down as fine as 400 grit when sanding it smooth. Two coats of acrylic paint will give a professional finish but the secret to a good finish is allowing 24 hours between coats and using a very good quality brush. Steve Good has many patterns that will be good for plywood and they are all free.
