A friend has melted the whistle from her kettle :-" and has been unable to source a replacement. She has asked me if I will turn a replacement.

Initial reaction - "simples" :) - but then of course realization begins to dawn - how do I fashion a whistle? how will the wood perform in such an environment - hot/wet steam? is it a fire risk? :(

So I have decided that I should try turning a plastic replacement. But how do I find such a bit of plastic on t'net? My search results have been very poor. :(

Or perhaps some kind person has a suitable piece they are willing sell to me? Size: 3cm square and about 20cm long (enough to make 2 or 3 - experimental for fit/shape/whistle etc!)

Any thoughts please? Oh and what kind of plastic would handle the heat?

Thanks

Dave
