Hello,

Would anyone know the best method to securely attach a glass (tempered) table top to a wood base or wood legs for a coffee table? The glass won't have a wood frame attached to it so I won't be able to glue wood to wood--it'll have to be glass to wood.

Hiya

I doubt that glass to wood will work too well as wood has this annoying tendency to move...... Possibly better if the glass sits on something like soft rubber "feet" which in turn are inserted into the ends of the legs. I've done that in the past with a coffee table and the neoprene rubber had enough friction on its' own to prevent the glass from moving. Alternatively if the glass is bonded to metal feet, and they in turn sit in recesses in the tops of the legs (like the rear view mirror in your car) then tah might also work well. The use a form of epoxy or sometimes "super glue" to achieve this bond.

As scrit says small rubber pads work well set into the legs or frame like this if the table is not going to be lifted by the glass.

You can also buy specialist fixings like this that fit flush with the glass from Prefit or if you have access to metal working machines then make your own like on this table
