In moment of unbridled enthusiasm I applied a coat of Osmo PolyX to some Malee. While I like the look of Osmo on most of my projects I actually wanted high gloss finish on this one and really meant to use a gloss yacht varnish or something similar.

What's the best way of proceeding ? Remove as much as possible with White Spirit (?), try buffing it once it is dry, put a layer of wax over it and give it a good polish ?

I've not attempted this but I'm told you can get Polyx to gloss up really nicely by applying several coats and machine polishing. It's probably better to start with the gloss rather than the matt but I hear both will buff to gloss.
