Being more than somewhat new to the dark art of wood, I seek advice.

I have just constructed a window frame of 16mm thick french oak which I have laminated around a 36mm square ply core (the weather here ranges from minus 20ish to 40ish in the sun) and the frame will be fixed in a position which bears the sun from dawn until about 3pm.

Sooooooooo, finishing. I was thinking I could coat in 2/3 layers of Danish oil (if I can find it here) - what do you think?

P.S.
Am rather chuffed with the way the frame has turned out - now you watch it disintergrate

Take a look here, this chap uses linseed oil on his oak windows.

Thinking about oak windows for the workshop when the current ones finish rotting though.
