I posted some time ago regarding flattening really wavy poplar burr veneer. I received a number of suggestions on how to do it, but I am slightly confused as to why some just use glycerine + water and others use glycerine + water + pva + meths

Anyone able to explain the following?

1. What is glycerine used ?

2. Why do some people suggest adding pva glue and meths to the mix ?

I want to keep it as simple as possible and was hoping to use glycerine + water, but want to check that before I go ahead and start flattening the sheets that cost me nearly £20 each.

Thanks
