Finally, after almost a year of shed roof collapses, new jobs, relocating, massive amounts of amateur building, I got the lathe setup and got turning last night.

Nothing too impressive and I don't know what the wood is - it was a very small burr from a big collection I picked up a couple of months ago. Finished though which is the first step.

Got almost too much wood to know where to start though - began cutting another log around the splits and I think it's Oak. Might need someone local with a chainsaw and experience...

Welcome back , good use of a lovely piece of burr .You must be chomping at the bit by now . =D> =D>

Well done .

Produced from your old lathe as well Steven. I always planned to upgrade by now but there's been too many distractions keeping me away from it that I'm not even starting to find its limits.

It's a cracking little lathe Mike only limited by it's fixed head but after saying that still able to produce decent size things.
Good to see you back turning tho.
I've been in the same boat, unable to get to the shed much as sprog 2 is getting married this week so the wife decided we had to have a make over - of the whole house, inside & out and the gardens front & back. Am knackered and can't wait to get back in the shed for some quiet time lol
