with Christmas coming up the pressure is on to finish the projects I have started . I am a serial starter and dreadful at finishing anything so the missus is giving me a hard time to deliver on some in time for Christmas to give to the grandkids.
Here’s my first attempt at carving a rocking horse from birch ply. Must say apart from losing the top of my finger to the angle grinder carving attachment. It’s was relatively painless and very enjoyable project .

Most impressive. I like the look of the ply layers. A good move not painting as it has a nice natural look. Should be some very happy grandkids on the big day.
Regards
John

Absolutely lovely work, BZ as we would say in the Royal Navy (Well done). First item I ever restored was an early and battered Rocking Horse in 1973!
I have one of those angle grinder attachments and I love it. I have had accidents to hands/fingers from the most innocuous of items in and around the workshop and dare I say it the garden. My worst was severing a tendon in my left index finger with a sickle.

Thanks John. given i havent done any woodwork since i was at school over 40 years ago i was surprised how easy this was to make , i would recconmend giving it a go , just be careful with the angle grinder

exceptional, what was the start point, an existing design from somewhere or your own pencil and paper?
Hi it was a plan from the rocking horse factory, only about £25 , well worth it , very easy to follow video instructions as well, happy to give advice to anyone wanting to give it a go,

That is incredible. And your first time! Some people are truly gifted, I still need a ruler to draw a line!

I made two for dolls for my granddaughters I think I may be getting an order for the big ones lol hope the price of birch plywood comes down
