Hi,
We are a small woodworking firm making kitchen units which I normally finish with Osmo Polyx oil, I have a customer who wants a "bombproof" finish as she has several children and a large dog. I need to choose either an acylic or polyurethane varnish and wondered which you would recommend, I understand there are problems raising the grain with acylic and polyurethane sometimes yellows and is thick to applyas application will be by brush. Has anyone got any ideas?

One way is water-based acrylic, floor type.

The alternative is to explain to her that nothing will resist dog claws and children's teeth for very long, and she's better off with a finish where she can give it a quick rub where it has scratched (give her a few sheets of fine wet and dry or something as a freebie) but which can be topped up in patches to get rid of the scratches rather than having to strip it all right back and start again when it does go.

So, something like Poly-X sounds like a good solution to me.
