Hi folks,

My father in law kindly donated some lilac logs and branches to me, from about 2" diameter, up to about 5".
I've turned a few bits green, and like the colours running through it... lilac (well duh!), pinks and green as well as more usual creamy and grey colours.
As it's drying the colours are fading somewhat though....

So is there a way to keep or even bring back the colours?
My usual finishes i think would overpower the subtle tones.

Any suggestions welcome! Cheers!

when i worked at the garden centre i got given allot of lilac and i'm sorry to say but I have never found anything which will stop the wonderfull colours from fading

Cheers for the reply sir.

The wood has now gone a pretty mix of cream brown and grey with a pinkish tinge, and has some nice figure, so hopefully it'll settle to something worth having.

Amusingly i also got some wisteria, which is now turning lilac in the heartwood as it dries!

On some lilac branchwood I used Chestnut acrylic sanding sealer followed by carnauba wax on the polishing mop.
Colors are still fine, but it was turned dry and there never was any purple or pink.

Hans
