I don't post much due to lack of knowledge

Who needs knowledge? :? I have very little, but am always happy to share it! Whether anyone wants it or not is another matter, though :D

I honestly think that this forum is one place where everyone contributes, no matter how much or little, and it is appreciated by all

Keep up the good work, rookie!

not sure if it works never tried it before but glue size is supposed to seal end grain before staining. Dont know if you have used vandyke on pine but you can get a nice dark colour or lighter as you wish

Nice table. If it's too shiny what you need is some Scotchbrite, the grey one ideally. You can get it from Axminster. Just rub over lightly, being a type of foam it will adapt to all the curves. If you can't get scotchbrite then steel wool will do but isn't so good. I don't know which grade but probably 000.
