How to catch a Polar bear

Dig a pit in the ice.
Place frozens peas around the edge of the pit
When the bear comes along and bends down to eat the peas ...
You kick him in the ice hole.

When I heard it it said
"when the polar bear comes for a pea"!!

Slightly different feel :D

You have to "bear" in mind that when I first heard that joke I was very young about 40 years ago, and it probably didn't click what was being said, it was about 35 years ago that it dawned on me about "ice hole" and apparently a further 35 years to realise/be informed the rest of it, very sheltered life obviously.
