Miles away - totally impractical...
Hi all,

The batteries on my DeWalt DW988 combi drill have been failing over time and one eventually gave up yesterday. I can't run on just one battery (which is also on its way out) so I'm wondering what to do next. Aside from the batteries the drill is a great but the cost to replace the batteries seems exorbitant!

Anyone any good sources for competitively priced batteries? Quite happy to buy more of the same (2.0ah DeWalt DE9095 battery). Alternatively, I may consider a new drill but it seems a crime to ditch a good drill and in all likelihood the replacement will not be as good. In the event I replace it would be good to know the good, bad, and the ugly. Any to avoid?

Just putting it out there in case anyone has any bright ideas!

Cheers

I have the dc988 and when my batteries went (after a few years), I replaced mine with the 2.6A nimh version - about £50 each if memory serves

Well worth the spend, but if you ditch your perfectly good drill, throw it my way :)

EDIT - there are quite a few articles on the web about repairing these btw as they are made of many batteries wired in parallel I think and one failure can cause the whole circuit to fail - don't know if that helps but would be worth a look if you're up to the challenge

Cheers for the link Beech, I'll bookmark that for next time my batteries go.
