Does anybody have experience with making of installing wooden framed bi fold sliding doors?

The wife thinks are lives are incomplete with out some form of year round garden room with a folding glass front but these "rooms" and doors are super expensive so I got to thinking I could probably build one to thr exact size needed leaving only the doore as a potential sticking point.
The glass is pretty easy as we have a local glazing company we have used before but how easy is it to get hold of the hardware, weather proofing, rails etc?

Is this a touch over ambitious?

Should not be too hard. Contact a supplier like http://www.coastal-group.com/ or any other reputable seller. They have cross sections showing how to make the frame. The edges of the doors don't need rebating which makes it even easier. Spend money on a very stable timber, my pick would be Accoya.

Have fun!

i'm sure someone will be along in a minute to give you a full and proper answer, but in the meantime http://www.hafele.co.uk have all the hardware you'll need. these are on my list of things to make during my house refurb. apparantly the hafele helpline is excellent for helping out with specifics of which system and size would be best for you. i'm sure there are plenty of other places out there too.
