I'm in the process of setting up my DW625 in my table and was planning on using my Festool extractor with the router. I've installed the, horridly cheap and nasty, dust extraction shroud that came with the DeWalt but I don't seem to get full plunge with it installed. Something is fouling on the shroud but I didn't have time to properly check last night. I've tried both sides but I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong. Or perhaps it's as well designed as the rest of the router. For example, the dust shroud hides the spindle lock when it's plunged.

Are you sure it's not the depth-stop turret? It doesn't take much for it to foul the router body if it's not in the correct position.

I'm not able now, but later I can check my router for you.

Thanks Mark,

I'm pretty sure it's not as at one point it did hit the depth stop so I moved it. However, it had been a long day so perhaps I missed it. I'd be grateful if you could check. I'll also have a second go tonight.

Cheers, Shareef.

Right, I've got to the bottom of the issue and it seems it's the dust shroud that is at fault. It's obviously made to poor tollerances as it is shaped to sit round the case of the spindle lock button but fouls on it. After some filing and cutting I can now get to within 1mm of full plunge depth which will suit me for what I need I think. I removed the spindle lock button at one point but the trade off would have been trying to wiggle a second spanner under the table. I went with some plastic violation instead. I took some pics but they're not worth putting up.

Anyway, I mentioned that this was going to be used with a Festool extractor and it seems to work well. In the pic you can see the dust left on the table top after routing a 13mm wide by 8mm deep channel. Really happy with that and can't wait to use the table more - it's my first. You can also see that it's worth understanding the difference between corner radius and diameter when you draw the CAD files. D'oh. But it's a tight fit so didn't need the corner cam lock in the end.

Cheers.

You beat me to it! I've just arrived home and the first thing I did was assemble my router's dust shroud and take a picture.

Mine doesn't catch anywhere; though as you've found, the plunge lock is inaccessible when fully plunged.

Nice router table!

Thanks for that. Must just be variation in manufacturing. I might see if I can get a spare from somewhere at some point in the future.
