Not a perogative of the DM I assure you, I read the science columns of most of the papers and sometimes wonder.Of course it could be that the article is wrong (very unlikely in the Daily Mail!). Or even written by somebody that doesn't have a clue as to what they are talking about.

Depends on how you wish to alter the orbit. If you wished to have it cross Earth's orbit earlier, add mass, if later, reduce the mass.So.... the heavier the better.
