I've just experimented with DropBox http://www.dropbox.com and have found it's a good way to store photos for posting in forums. Just linking a folder on my computer and dropping the picture in there - then copy and pasting the picture's url from the DropBox on line folder. It's free an dead easy. I expect others already do it this way but anyway just thought it worth a mention.

I've been using it for at least a year, possibly longer and find it really useful. Great for working on files on my desktop, laptop or elsewhere without needing to copy files back and forth.
I also have it on my phone and it automatically copies photos across when I take any new ones

Please forgive me if I seem technologically challenged!

I've used D/B for some time for sharing files between by various devices, desktop, laptop, tablet etc, and it's very useful. I didn't realise I could post pics to the forum from it and, to be honest, I still don't.

For the life of me I can't find any urls' in my online folder. All I've got is file name, file type, and when it was posted/modified.

Please help me, it's driving me nuts!! ](*,)

Go to your Dropbox on-line and then to the pictures folder
Click on the picture - it will open up
Double right-click on it and an editior will open
Click on the "copy image link icon" (3rd from left on the bottom bar) or CTRL+C
Paste this link here using Img tags.

Thanks for that, but -

When I open a pic, there are some icons in the bottom right corner of the screen. The one with 4 arrows is to "View Original". If I do this I get the original pic in a separate tab and I can then right click to copy the url. But, when pasted into a forum reply, the pic size is huge and, if it's from my Blackberry, the image is rotated left.

Sorry to be pain,

PS. Is the editor a separate app?

Are you doing this from a mobile?

.... one for a test as I laid out above

The "Image" is not active on my browser.

Maybe my Firefox setup had a problem??

You could rotate image in Dropbox. This forum software seems to shrink an over large image when it displays.

Nor for me. Have to confess that I rarely use Dropbox as I find it's user interface clunky and not particularly Mac friendly.

So top link is as per the Copy Shared Link command. But the image does not display.

The empty image icon is after wrapping the img tags around the top link. And doesn't work for me either.

As I say...Drop Dropbox! I prefer Flickr.

EDIT: Noticed the url was different between the two links. Let's see. Nope...still duff. Ruddy Duffbox

EDIT 2 : Tried opening this thread in Safari. Still doesn't work.

I didn't drop the image per se. Just opened up the image online in Droopbox and clicked on the share link, then highlighted the link and copied it. Pasted it into UKW with the results you see

To tell you the truth Roger...I only started using Dropbox when I got the SmartPhone....but only then to transfer photographs from the phone to my PC and to share them on the TV.

I think Picasa is a wonderful free programme which has its own space to use for this sort of thing....and is great at photo manipulation as well.
