Dressing a whetstone

I bought a tool to dress the whetstone but there were no instructions with it here it is :-

I guess I hold it against the grinding surface as the thing goes round, any tips anyone?

I don't think I would be using one of those to dress a Wetstone, assuming by that you mean a slow running Tormek or lookalike.

Far to crude a device that I would expect to use on coarse engineering wheels only.

I agree with CHJ. I used my Star Wheel Dresser once and then threw it away - it chewed the wheel away very quickly.
I replaced it with another Axminster device, their Diamond Dressing Block and I have used this happily ever since
