I have a shop made version of this http://www.luthiertools.co.uk/routerbaseinfo.html

But my dremel is about shot. Do the new ones have an end cap that unscrews to fit into a base like this or have they changed?

The chuck on the old dremel is worn. It is ok with the quick change mandrel in but no good to keep changing bits in. I only need a basic model but this base is useful for inlay and precision work- I doubt any other make shares the same thread on the nose.

Every model I looked at when I replaced mine about a month ago still had the screwed section at the front

I have two separate official Dremel accessories that screw onto that thread, and there are many more: I doubt they'll be getting rid of it anytime soon, they'd have to refresh their whole range!

The old Dremel at the council run workshop down the road is from the ancient black range, I don't think they're sold anymore.

However It, my Lithium ion version, and my cheap Black and Decker Wizard all share the exact same locking thread at the front, so I'm guessing you're fairly safe :D
