Hi everyone,

I've done small stringers before but I was just after a tiny bit more into for decking stringers.

It will only be two steps downs. Really it could be one but it is for an elderly couple.

I was thinking of using 2x10 or 2x12. What would you use?

Also. How would you guys attach them, screw in at 45 or buy brackets?

Much appeeictaed.

Treads should be housed into the strings really, but I would use 80mm screws in through the string and into the tread end and also a treated batten screwed underneath into the string with 60's (mm) supporting the tread, belt and braces.
The general rule is double the depth you are fixing through, =44+44=88mm, Screw length.
Skew fixing would be far from the best method
I don't use decking for the treads personally as they retain any rainwater or run off 1 end and rot it out,
I use treated 44mm CLS,
And finish with green paint and mix some kiln dried sand, (kids play sand) and have a better grippy
tread, Obviously needs to be dry for this.
HTH Regards Rodders
