Miles away - totally impractical...
Finished applying the first coat of satin varnish to one side of some Ash doors, all the time thinking that it was more sticky than usual. Then realised that I'd been using Polyurethane rather than the quick drying water based varnish that I've used for all the other Ash in the bathroom (including the face frame in to which these doors will be fixed).

The tin warns that Polyurethane may darken the wood and to use the water based version for a truly transparent finish. So, my question...

Should I sand it off and start again? At the moment the doors are still wet so not so easy to tell how they'll end up looking/not able to offer them up to the current finished Ash to compare. Nevertheless, even if they look OK now, I suspect the the Polyurethane will age differently to the water based finish.

Would be interested in some opinions...
