Credit card warning

My friend in US has recently passed away.
HIs wife was an additional card holder on his cc ie the agreement between the cc company and the person was with the husband.
cc company closed the account and demanded the balance be paid off.

Luckily she has her own cc.
For those couples with one cc it may be worth having another signed up with other spouse to prevent stress at an already difficult time.
I never thought of this.

We are having similar problems here.
If you own a car and it is in (say) the husbands name, if the husband dies, the wife can not even use the car, let alone sell it.
We are now having to put both people on the cars registration, which can not be done untill the insurance is in both names.

Red tape rules, ok?
