course fishing woodworkers

Hi Chaps,
having retired 6 weeks ago \/
I have started course fishing again (after a 10 year break)
I was wondering if any like minded folks use their wood working skills to turn out tackle etc.

I built a small lightweight seat box a long while ago and have been using it again, but nothing else has sprung to mind.

You could hand carve fish hooks ... that's about as pointless as catching fish you don't eat.

You could steam bend fish hooks for strength, but would constant immersion straighten them?
How about turned or carved floats?

Hand made split cane rods are quite a "thing".

I wouldn't worry too much about combining them, instead get that bed of hemp down on the gravel bar and wait for the Barbel to come whiskering over....sheer heaven
