'Big Clive' has this channel - lots of interesting stuff (mostly far East).
This is a tiny 'remote' and a black box capable of switching 30 amps (declared).
I.e. should be good for a vac when starting tool X.
 
I have a knife and forked device I knocked up from a remote control plug in socket adapter, the socket zapper, a sound operated switch and a little DIY board with a couple of capacitors and relays to convert a continuous on/off signal from the sound switch to a momentary pulse to switch the socket. It turns my vac on and off using the sound of the tool. Use it with my chop saw, track saw, router table...very crude but effective
