If anyone's interested I'm posting some updated pics with dimensions and a detail of the parts. This Sketchup software is bloomin amazing! - it would be even better if it was re-written with the woodworker in mind, allowing you to automatically create joints etc :)

I got some Canadian Hard Maple yesterday (bit of a result as they sold me a huge lump of 3" stock for the price of a couple of smaller pieces as they made a mistake telling me the sizes of the smaller bits). I'm going out to start cutting now :)

Any thoughts before I start? Is this Mortice and Tenon joint going to be strong enough or should I use a haunched M+T?

LOL! Just you try pulling it apart once it's all glued up! It will last decades if not more!
Software looks great! Is it simple to learn and use?
