Oil is good.

I recently tried some of Mr Finney's microporous hardwax oil on a dining table and chairs. I was amazed by how thick you can brush it on, and it sets very fast too. For the table top I applied 3 coats in 2 days IIRC, and that gave a covering which was bordering on the too thick. There must be a lot of the setty-stuff-the-name-of-which-I-can't-reall-at-the-moment in it. I've had no complaints from the customers (yet), so I have it down as a strong possible for future projects. The only problem is that the left overs in the can (maybe 1/4 of the total) had set by the next time I opened it - so its not stuff to keep once opened.

I'm using Osmo-Polyx Hardwax Oil at the moment which seems to be a similar sort of stuff, two very thin brush coats needed and then some wax over the top - Rob
