Hi All, new to this forum. Would appreciate any advice about removing legs of a chaise longue - need to move it through a narrow passage to another part of the house. Legs are cylindrical, of diameters varying from 5 inches where attached, then spreads to about 8 inch 'pot' and then through another 4 inch 'pot' down to the bottom which is about 2 inch diameter. The leg looks solid but there is a definite crease where the leg joins the seat, which looks like the whole thing might be detachable at that point (unscrewable?). Any suggestions on how such legs may be joined would be most welcome.

Thanks, GCA

Is this an antique or modern chaise ? If it is antique it will be doweled, usually with three or four 8-10mm dowels per foot. They are quite hard to get off if they are not already loose, you may be able to saw them off with one of these http://www.axminster.co.uk/stanley-stan ... rod906024/ and then re-dowel them afterwards. If it is a modern chaise they may well be screwed in, in which case give them a good twist anti clockwise and that will give you the answer. If that does not shift them you are back to the first answer. You could then fix them back on with a machine to wood dowel like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOOD-TO-METAL ... 1113265719
