Hi everyone,

I've going to be making some fitted wardrobes for my house in a few weeks once I have finished off my kitchen and after using some of those cedar wood blocks to repel moths in the past was thinking about making the drawer bottoms and parts of the cupboards out of cedar.

I did a quick google and it looks like Eastern Red Cedar is the type of timber I need. Unfortunately it would appear that in the UK only Western Red Cedar and occasionally Cedar of Lebanon is available.

There seems to be quite a wide variation in density and grain pattern between the different Cedars but I can't tell whether they are equal in terms of smell/ moth repelling capability?

I'm hoping that someone on here will have experience of this and point me in the right direction. General advice about working with Cedar and incorporating it into wardrobes and drawer units would also be very welcome!

I made a bed from Western Red Cedar about 3 years ago
several coats of Danish Oil

if you rub with hand can still smell the Cedar...glorious wood sniffing
