A few years back I owned a Carba tec mini lathe, variable speed, cont duty motor with the blue paint job. I went and sold it which I now regret. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a similar machine within the U.K? In my opinion nothing beats them for small turnings and they now seem very scarce.

to the Forum turboguard, have you had a look at the Axminster smaller offerings?

Hi Chas,
Thanks for the suggestion, but yes I have given that a look already.

I'm a bit naff with a computer so bear with me if I'm not getting across correctly. Cant work these smiley faces out yet!

Regards Richard

Carbatec won't have made it, just badged it. It'll have been assembled in Taiwan or China.

You'll prob find several that look like it as the assemblers source look-alike parts from a range of manufacturers, sometimes only on the basis of lowest price.

Woodfast do an EVS midi; dunno whether it's sold over your way. http://www.cws.au.com/cgi/index.cgi/sho ... 1107453948
The manual speed-change unit is popular in turning clubs Downunder.

If you are well-heeled and these are imported to ole blighty:

Good luck with your quest.
