Shame the damage has destroyed the model number, but the critical values are 25uF, 450Vac, and +/- 5% tolerance. One of these (https://cpc.farnell.com/c/electroni...r-run-motor-start-capacitors?capacitance=25uf) might do it, though I'd wonder if the capacitor failed due to some other fault (e.g. motor windings).
It's an old bandsaw, it runs OK once started. Hopefully I'll find one on Amazon to save the waiting time.
I took a chance and ordered a 25µF one, the existing one wasn't the original one anyway, it had an 8mm stud sawn off to make it fit the box.
Right ................... I have a capacitor. Unlike the the failed one this one's wires are not colour coded - I assume this means it could be connected either way?
Yes either way is fine in an AC motor.
