Hi folks, first post for me, great site.
I have a capacitor with a hole burnt in it on my dewalt dw125 and I am struggling to find a replacement. Part number in the manual is 44412 and all spare retailers say not available any more. I saw a post from power tools in a thread dated 19 March 2013 where he said he'd got one from ebay for 7 quid. I can't for the life of me see one anywhere.
Is there any kind soul out there who knows where I can get one?
Don't want to scrap my saw as it's been great for me for years, but if I can't get a replacement, it'll be down to the tip, which would be sad.
Many thanks,
Doug

I brought some spares from this company recently for my Elu RAS.

http://toolsandpartsdirect.co.uk/Elu-RA ... -5356.aspx

The part you need is item 236, and appears to still be available for £18.99 inc Vat.

Hope this helps.

Tim.

Assuming that you can find the capacitor value on the casing of the old one, Ebay is indeed the place to get a cheaper replacement

Search for Motor Run capactitor and the value in Mfd (microfarads) Make sure also thatthe voltage rating of the the new one is at least as high as the old one - typically 400v

Thanks for the replies folks - Disinterior - I saw the Elu part 236 but not sure if it is a like for like replacement, especially as my capacitor is sort of oval shape and fits quite snugly into its housing, although the drawing that shows part 236 may only be a notional shape, it might be a risk to go for the Elu one.
Myford man, thanks for the suggestion it is an 18 mFarad one with 450 v written on the side (GE make) so I'll get onto Ebay now and start looking.
Thanks so much for helping.
Doug

Update: Just gone for one from Ebay as it had the dimensions in the info and it will fit into the housing - £6.65 inc postage so if it works I have to be happy with that.
Once again, great help, so thanks!

Doug,

I think you are correct about the generic drawing on the parts list pictures.

I had to remove the capacitor from the handle on my Elu RAS when I fitted a new on/off switch, and it was a snug fit in its position. I'm pretty sure that it is the same as your Dewalt RAS.

Maybe someone who has a Dewalt RAS can clarify for you.

It sounds as if you have found the part.
When mine went wrong I thought it was the switch but after taking it apart I also like you found a hole blown through the cap and did a search on ebay using the ratings on it and purchased one for about the same price and the saw has been fine ever since.
