Ive got to make a cage similar to the one below,how are the uprights & cross pieces connected,i thought about butt joint any suggestions please.Im hopeless at jointing so heres to it not been complicated.

If it's a commercially made one,I wouldn't be surprised if they were butt joints.
To me,looks like an ideal project for pocket screws,butt joints,and some exterior glue.

hi boomer your not far away where in stoke you based? the cage could be jointed using traditional mortice and tenons/halving joints but this would be difficult. pocket screws would be fine. dowels would also be great, biscuits may be too wide and show. dowels and pocket screws would mean simple butt joints.
 
Thanks for the replys , i think i'll go for butt joint-pocket screws & glue.

johnnyb,im in Chell about 4 miles away,im told the cage is for a Iguana lizard,the cage is to have solid ply sides,top & floor with mesh just at the front.

Now to go buy a pocket jig yippeeee :D
