Guys, any tips for work boots.

Comfortable, affordable, durable and not the size of boats.

?

Currently got the brown leather 'waterproof' Site brand also from scewfix. Been impressed, holding up well in a job that kills boots. Try any boots on in screwfix. This brand and the dewalts I also tried on both 9s were completely different sizes...
Had the scruffs black waterproof ones before. 2 pairs. Nice boots, very light but bit more expensive.

Bought a pair of Caterpillar walking boots in about 2007 and gave them some serious hammer, climbed mountians etc.. decided they were getting a bit tatty this year so bought another pair. 6 months later, soles worn through no receipt, managed to talk the manager into giving me store credit. Only boots they had that I liked were identical to the last pair, ho hum at least I will get another 6 months out of them.

The original decent ones had an oil resistant sole these don't, lesson learned.

I bought a pair of Magnum Panthers from Black's. As well as having a incredibly naff name, I don't think they're very comfy.

If you don't need safety boots then Merrell or Salamon boots are very nice. I have Salamon for hill walking and Merrell for everyday. Merrell are more comfortable Salamon are more waterproof and lightweight.

I was working down near Worthing three or four years ago and had to get a a pair sharpish as building control were visiting the next day. Got a pair of Scruffs brand boots from Wickes for about 40 squid and they have been (and still are) brilliant. And I have very large rather oddly shaped feet!

Thanks for the input everyone. Unfortunately the local screwfix has a poor stock and disinterested staff.

I ended up with a pair of these for under 60 quid from the local agricultural supplier.

And a trendy Massey Ferguson boilersuit :)
