Bannister moulding

We have a very narrow staircase, and to further restrict width, we have a stairlift, but we do need a bannister, but there is not enough width for one on brackets, I have seen long ago a moulding, screwed to the wall that was I think only about 35mm deep, is this still available and if so whats it called.

do check the sizes though- there is not a standard that I can see- the first one that I found was ex50x100 so finished at 44mm. If space is that tight then that few mm might make a difference.
