Bandsaw Buying Advice

Hey,

I am new to this site and was hoping you could help me find a decent bandsaw.

I am looking for a tabletop bandsaw that is reliable, not to expensive etc.

I am getting a bit confused when looking online and all the different brands etc, some say they are good but look nasty and vice versa.

I don't want to pay silly money for something, but am willing to pay for good quality.

Any ideas / help would be great.

I'm a bandsaw novice so can't make a recommendation for a bench model. However I think a bit more info is needed...

What material to cut?
Depth of cut required?
Typical use?
Budget?
Happy with used?

When I bought my bandsaw I knew I wanted to cut bowl blanks - sometimes quite big ones, so I was able to narrow down my choices rapidly. Also I knew I had a limited budget and wanted to buy a used machine. Finally I had limited floor space and ceiling height. In the end there was little choice.

portable ...sit on a bench
cut out saw handles , plane totes
small 2" pieces for ring boxes


won't get used much
just those jobs when a jigsaw is to much like hard work

I would go for something as cheap as possible- may as well be used as new. Something along the lines of http://bit.ly/1b9PJ6I but there are many alternatives under many brand names. When you have it, contact tuffsaws and get a decent blade.
