Bandsaw blades

I am in the process of getting a new bandsaw,however i have 8 new blades for present one and was wondering if it was feasible to have these shortened by 12 inches and rewelded to use on the new saw . Now will it cost effective to do this as the blades are only about 8 quid each. Anyone done this before and know somewhere in the north east to get this done?

Rod, can't you sell the existing ones to the buyer of your old machine, or on Ebay?

Personally I doubt it will be cost effective to have them shortened, but others may know differently.
