I bought bladses from Dure-edge a while back (OK, 10 years).
No longer able to find them?

1) Are they still in business please?
2) If not - what other suppliers have a similar (excellent) report please?

For a Bs300 saw.

+1 Tuffsaws

Not only are the blades brilliant but Ian @ Tuffsaws is about the loveliest, most helpful chap I've ever encountered in retail, always happy to answer my (many!) stupid questions. They set new standards in customer service. Absolute brilliant.

*no I don't work for them!

Comprehensive range. Suggested 'grade' please?
Hobby usage, 1/2" 6tpi (any comments on the 6/10 combo?).
Options seem to be
premium or fastcut
M42 (sounds expensive?)

If you aren't bothered about the kerf, M42 every day of the week. They last forever. They are, however, thicker blades than most other.

With consequences on tension? My BS300 isn't all that good with tension? Is M42 to dogs what not (most expensive?)
Tempted to go middle of the road with premium? No rush hence less interested in fastcut?

Assume that's a moderate choice? Would you agree

1) Sadly not. Always had good service and good blades from them

M42 will outlast the others by miles and I've a 1/2" one on a smaller saw than yours without problems. :D

No. Seriously, if you've had M42 there is hardly any way back to ordinary blades, unless you really need very fine kerfs. But yep, don't take any notice of what the manufacturer says is the widest blade your machine can take. Take 1/4" off that, at least.

Might be worth simply phoning Tuffsaws up and discussing, as they offer advice as good as their blades.

Probably no difference, but is this an Axminster BS300 or a Record BS300?

Whenever I’m unsure about a blade I email Ian and get a very helpful response. His blades are all brilliant. Been using the 3/8” x 10tpi SuperTuff Carbon and it’s amazing.

I always use Axminster Diamond Ground blades which are quite superb; I had a couple of Tuff saw blades as well and they were pretty good too. Not a lot to choose between them IMO - Rob
