What's the minimum size etc that would be useful for aiding construction of segmented work and doesn't cost a fortune as SWMBO took a trip with me to Turners Retreat and saw some real prices and not the ones I ahem mistakenly told her.

Hi,

I use a Record BS250 which I think was around the £250 mark. It will cut 5" comfortably, just got to take it steady. Great little bandsaw and pretty accurate.

Attached photos are the latest bowl made with it, bowl stands about 8" tall

Cheers

Pete

Buy the biggest you can afford as it will be useful to prepare larger blanks it is surprising how quick you will outgrow a small one

Do you put the strips through a PT afterwards Pete?

Good question... I'm intrigued to know if this needs doing.

Thanks everyone thought the buy as big as you can would be the answer. In a few months then got to let finances recover first.

Also consider secondhand. There's not a lot to go wrong on a bandsaw and there's some great bargains to be had regularly on eBay.
