I've held off buying a table saw until Woodford had the prices for their new range, and sadly, I just can't stretch the funds to £685.00, or justify it to be honest. I had two other saws in mind, the Dewalt 744, have read lots of positive reviews, the only negative being the noise. The second is the Axminster TS200, which is the one I'm going for on Saturday. I'm not buying the complete set up, but the basic model with the side extension, and the aftermarket fence.
I've read previous posts about the table not always being flat, if this is still an issue, and issues with the mitre slots...Is there anything else I need to check? Don't won't arrive home all excited to find I've bought a pig in a poke :)

Like you I was waiting until the Woodford chaps provided the info on their new range. Unfortunately I don't have the space for their new machine, so I went for the TS200, it arrived this morning from Axminister.

Its currently in my workshop, and initially I have checked the table and the mitre slots. Table checked with an engineer rule and I am very happy with the casting, and its machined to a very nice finish. The mitre fence has a tad of play but well within operating withing tolerance (some PTFE tape should cure that - that how tight it is).

The only recommendation would be to obtain some shake-proof washers, probably doesn't need them but for a ha'porth of tar!!!

The leg stand will not accommodate single bolt castors, and I have just ordered a machine trolley from Warco to enable me to move around my small workshop. The Warco buy was very good £40 ish, I also have the larger trolley from them holding up my Startrite bandsaw, which has been faultless.

So far with reference to the TS200, I am pleased but (there is always one) I haven't run it or fully assembled the machine, nor checked blade alignment.

I am having to wait for the sliding table which should be arriving in the next few days.

Hope this is useful.

Kind regards

Aden

I'd simply pop a row of points along the bar, using a centre punch. The row of craters so produced will effectively widen the overall with of the bar and can be filed down until you have the fit you are looking for. It's permanent, or at least, good for donkeys' years of daily use. Not my idea, BTW, it's a well-established technique.

Thanks Aden... :) Can't wait until Saturday, I've been itching since placing the order yesterday. I have the side table extension reserved and also the after market fence. May have a look at the UJK Mitre Gauge while I'm there. Table wise
I'm planning on making one. Would like to make a start on that on Sunday, if I managed to finish making some cupboards
for the workshop by Saturday evening. Depends how distracted I'll be  I was hoping Axminster would have a few machines in just in case, but as they only had the one, I'll have to take my chances everything will be OK.
Have you bought an alternative blade to the one provided?

Pete

Top tip!!! ask them to throw you one in free, I asked for a cross cutting blade (TCT), nice people from Axminster sent me one with the machine. If you PM me I tell you what I paid for the machine.

Steve, yes I seen this tip ref center punching the mitre fence carrying bar. But if you look at the TS200 fence, it you will to go careful as there is not to much meat on the sections where you could pop it.

What I would like is to have some of the T slot section bar, anyone out there got a resource for that. (sorry Pete I am stealing your thread).

Kind regards

The slot is not standard assuming it's the same as my Kity.

What I did was get a piece of aluminium flat bar from eBay and just machined it on my router table to a precise fit.

That was for a tenon jig.

The Aluminium cut easily with a router but I took it very easy with really light cuts.
