Axminster rotary tool AMT not working - any ideas please?

When you flick the power switch it turns about a 1/4 of a turn and then is dead. Took the case off and nothing obvious - any ideas?

Is this a Dremal type of thing?

Does it have brushes? If so I would start there. If not then I'm stumped.

Yes its the dremel-like Axminster one and its got an extension shaft which means you can hold it like a pen. Brushes seem fine to me

My old proxon one did something similar.

It had a flat split on the commutator so I had to spin the shaft a little by hand to get it to run.....


Might be the same sort of problem?

I had a desk fan with something similar a little while ago; once it was running the momentum kept it turning past the fault.
