Hi everybody iam new to this forum, got a question about auger bits does anybody know a new use for these bits when the spurs are nearly gone thanks

Hi Joiner

I am assuming these are hand brace bits rather than machine auger bits?

If you don't mind spending the time with a fresh file you can probably recut the blade part and form new spurs. Might look horrible cosmetically but should be OK - certainly for use in softwood.

Failing which you have some shiny toasting forks.

If you look on Alfs website (Cornish Workshop) I think there may be a download for the old Ridgeway sharpening guide. If not have a look see at Toolemera.

Best regards

Lawrence
