Hi Lugo,
I know this will not help much, but no, I have not come across this before and have turned a fair amount with ash in various sizes.
I am sure some one out there will have though, give it time.

Lugo.
I had some freshly felled Ash some years back, and when i started to cut it up to size there was some red colouring streaks in it,but this then turned brown as it dried out.As yours stayed a red colour :?:
Happy new year.

thanks for your replies. would have posted a pic but have re-homed the bowl :D
Paul, as you say, maybe it will turn brown but was reasonably dry.
when i turn other piece will post pic. its other half of log so would have thought it would be same.

Lugo.
The red colouring i had went brown the same day,so perhaps what you have is some kind of spalting, which i have got in some spalted beech i had.
Will look forward to seeing a piccy :D
