I recently chipped my favourite 1 pint pot-mug. I think I can repair it, so at least it looks okay. I need something to fill in the chip, some paste substance that I can mould/sand, and then paint when dry. Has anyone any suggestions please?
Or does anyone know about this new 'wonder' adhesive/filler I read about, but can't find the article! Duuuhhh!

Thanks in anticipation.

John that mug looks waay to clean  as for the chip #-o tiz nowt but a battle scar (hammer) just sand the rough bits and continue using

Perhaps some sort of air drying modelling clay might do the job :)

Thanks Marc and Mark..

That 'Bondloc' looks as if it will do the trick. I'll try it out first on a 'Character' jug me old Dad left me. That has a similar chip in the rim.

I could leave it I suppose; I'm not likely to drink from that part of the rim. But I wouldn't mind having a go, just to see if I can make a repair that only people like the 'Flog-it' experts would notice!

As to cleanliness Mark, I can get about three refills out of it, before it gets covered with that mucky, tea stain. It's an old mug of course and although there is some shine inside, it still isn't smooth enough to clean with a dishcloth. It gets a soak in 'Asda's own' bleach every two or three days. 8)

Thanks for the advice fellers, It's much appreciated.

Regards

John

Hi

I'd use rapid epoxy and plaster of paris or poly filler as a filler material - it will probably sand easier and definitely be a better colour match.

Cheers Mick.

You have a point re the sanding. I have some 'whiting' in the house, so I could use that as it's inert. Talc too I shouldn't wonder. To colour the mix, you can mix pastel pigment with the epoxy, but as I don't have any black pastel I'll paint the repair afterwards.

Thanks again

John .
