It just goes to show that the most important bit of kit isn't something you can buy, its between the ears.

Yes he can, and if you spend half an hour walking up to the end of that souk ally and come back he will have a complete chess set for you.

I saw this guy (or his brother?) when on holiday in Marrakech about three years ago - great stuff, but the wood is not well seasoned and his stuff is unlikely to last well.

My trouble is that my lathe is positioned so that the centre is at about elbow height as I stand next to it. At my age I'm afraid I struggle to get my feet that far off the ground to hold the tool adequately as per the video :shock: , so I think I will stick to the more conventional approach of using two hands and an electric powered lathe!! :lol: :lol:
